Best Bet
The Dees have won three in a row and with a strong record against the Hawks, they should keep this within a few goals.
Melbourne haven’t lost to Hawthorn since Round 4, 2018, going unbeaten in nine straight (including a draw) with an average winning margin of 35 points. They’ve turned a bit of a corner over the past three weeks, posting wins over Freo, Richmond and West Coast.
Hawthorn are undoubtedly a tougher test but are still yet to reach their 2024 form. They’ve only covered once in their last five and their recent wins have come against Richmond and West Coast, the AFL’s two lowest-ranked sides.
Melbourne are likely to regain Clayton Oliver which should keep them competitive on the inside, an area where Hawthorn aren’t firing in without Will Day. The Hawks sit 11th for clearance differential at present, two spots below Melbourne.
The Dees have covered in seven of their last eight against top four opposition and look a strong chance to stay close again.
Same Game Multi
Jack Gunston has kicked 3+ goals in four straight games (and 2.3 in the game prior to that).
James Worpel loves playing the Dees, racking up 25+ in five straight. We’ll take him for 20.
Trent Rivers has had 20+ touches in four straight.
Value Bet
We simply have to keep riding the Jack Gunston heater, with the veteran kicking 16 goals in his last four games.
