Sydney haven’t done enough to justify being eight-point favourites over a red-hot Fremantle side chasing a seventh straight win.
The Bloods have definitely improved in the last three weeks with Errol Gulden and Tom Papley back, but their performances haven’t exactly screamed contender.
Wins over 17th-placed Richmond and a shaky Port side were expected, while last week’s shootout with the Dogs said a lot about the Bulldogs’ poor defence than Sydney’s attack with the Dogs ranked the fourth worst for points conceded in away games.
Freo won’t be as generous. The Dockers have the equal-best defence in the league this year, giving up just 68 points per game and holding every opponent to 70 or fewer in their last seven.
They’ve also been reliable as away underdogs, covering in nine of their last 11 in that role. The away team has covered in the last six between these two.
The Dockers are in top form and there’s every reason to back them to keep it rolling.
Same Game Multi
Steering clear of the star mids in this one with James Jordan and Corey Wagner likely to tag.
Jordan Clark has had 25+ in four straight (including 30+ in three).
Luke Jackson has kicked seven goals in his last three games. Shai Bolton has kicked seven in his last four.
Value Bet
If Fremantle keep their seventh straight opponent to less than 70 points then a good win could be on the cards. The Swans have conceded 100+ in each of their last three defeats.
