NRL Tips – Cronulla v St George Illawarra – Round 9 2024

Cronulla Sutherland Sharks vs St George Illawarra Dragons - NRL Tips

One of the most revered derbies in the NRL, the Sharks host the Dragons with Cronulla flying high and St George Illawarra once again needing to prove themselves.

Best Bet

St George Illawarra +13.5
Line

The Dragons had 60 put on them last week by the Roosters but really were not that bad and having shown up enough times this year, they look a very good bet getting a huge start in the local derby against Cronulla.

The key number for the Dragons is how many they conceded last week. Teams off allowing 60 points the week prior are 17-3 ATS the following week. The Dragons have covered 19 of 31 when an underdog of 4.5 or more in NSW.

Former Sharks coach Shane Flanagan is now in charge of the Dragons and he will have his team geared up.

There is no knock on the Sharks and they have dominated this matchup in recent years but the number just seems too big.

Zac Lomax Try/Teig Wilton Try
Same Game Multi

Zac Lomax has been in elite tryscoring form this season with six in eight games including one in his only game in the centres.

Teig Wilton has 15 tries in his 44 starts in the second row and is a threat against a poor Dragons right edge defence.

Value Bet

Tom Hazelton
To Score A Try

Sticking with an old favourite Tom Hazelton here. He has been outstanding and really should be in the frame for an Origin debut. He has been excellent near the line too, scoring three tries this season. He now has six tries in his last 18 games. The way he is running he is huge odds.
