Both the Scorchers and Renegades need a win in Perth to keep pace with the top four with just four games remaining for each side in BBL 14.
Head to Head
This is as short a team ever gets in Big Bash cricket but its justified here with the Scorchers set to field an outrageously talented team in this game.
With Mitch Marsh and Jhye Richardson set to return, the home side could feature up to nine players who have played international cricket for Australia, plus NZ regular Finn Allen.
This has been a very one-sided match-up too with the Scorchers winning 16 of 20 games played between these teams, including six of the last seven. The Renegades have won just one of nine games in WA.
The visitors’ elite top six just hasn’t fired in BBL 14, and it’s left them on the brink of elimination halfway through the season. Tim Seifort has been their best performed batter, just scraping into the top 15 runscorers in BBL 14, while star opener Jake Fraser-McGurk is averaging just 11.
The Renegades have lost ten straight on the road and just can’t be backed on form.
Best Bet
Young gun Connolly has been on a tear at home, scoring 25+ runs in eight of his last nine knocks at Optus, including each of the last six.
Value Bet
Richardson will be well-rested from his stint carrying the drinks for the Aussie Test team and has been taking wickets for fun at Big Bash level, picking up three wickets in two of three games this season. He could rip through the out of form Renegades top order.
