It’s a blockbuster Big Bash final at the SCG on Friday night with the Sixers and Thunder competing for a spot in this season’s decider.
Head to Head
The Sixers have owned their cross-town rivals lately so they have to be the pick here.
The magenta team have won six straight against the Thunder, and their last six against them at the SCG. With the exception of their sole clash this season, which went to the last ball, none of the matches have been particularly close.
Both sides have been hit hard by injury and/or departures. The Sixers have lost Steve Smith, Todd Murphy and Sean Abbott to national duty, as well as James Vince to the ILT20, while the Thunder are without Sam Konstas, Cam Bancroft and Daniel Sams. In a boost for the visitors, they will recall Jason Sangha for just his second game this season, as well as veteran Dan Christian.
Keep in mind that the team batting first has won the last six finals, but that aside, the Sixers’ experienced core of Henriques, Silk, Philippe and Dwarshuis should lead their team into their eighth Big Bash decider.
Best Bet
Henriques is super consistent at this level, scoring 20+ in 14 of his last 23 knocks. He also has a terrific record in derbies, averaging 43 in 23 innings against the Thunder.
Value Bet
It’s not quite Warner or bust for the Thunder but its not far off. The champion opener has been the Thunder’s top batter in four of their last six matches.
