The Hurricanes meet the Sixers on Tuesday night in Hobart with a spot in the BBL14 Final up for grabs.
Head to Head
The Hurricanes have been the standout team in the second half of BBL 14 and are well-positioned to secure a win here.
With no Australian Test players and Shai Hope the only international departure, the Hurricanes have maintained a very settled line-up throughout the competition. This stability was the key factor in their impressive seven-match winning streak, which was only halted by the Stars in their most recent game.
The Sixers, meanwhile, have now lost Steve Smith, Sean Abbott and Todd Murphy to national duty, on top of James Vince, who left a few games prior. Their batting looks particularly thin with Moises Henriques their best remaining run scorer this season, sitting 17th in the rankings. The ‘Canes have three batters who have scored more runs in BBL 14.
The head-to-head between these teams is very even at 10-9 to the Hurricanes, but the Sixers struggled on the Apple Isle, only winning one of their last six at Bellerive.
The ‘Cane Train is rolling and they and they look set to advance to their first final in eight years..
Best Bet
Chaudhary has produced a remarkable run of starts this season. The all-rounder has scored more than 20 runs in seven straight matches but is yet to score a 50. He won’t be the match-winner, but on form he looks a great bet to hit at least 20.
Value Bet
If there is going to be a Sixer to throw a spanner in the works then it will likely be the skipper. Henriques is clearly the best performed batter remaining in the visitors’ line-up and he loves a big occasion, top scoring for his team in three of his last four BBL finals.
