Loved the debut of Halvar at Ballarat. Over the 1000m he absolutely savaged the line to finish second and the form out of the race has held up well. Getting out to 1200m will suit and the straight typically allows horses to run on, especially over the longer trips. This maiden has some quality about it but he will still be hard to beat.

Kiwi mare Sans Doute has raced well in this country without winning and gets her chance to break through. She doesn’t need to lead but from barrier eight should be right on the speed. While she doesn’t have any straight track form to speak of, she looks like it should suit her racing style.

Solvere is worth a small play at huge odds here. The gelding has won three on the bounce now and while they were in much easier company, he did an excellent job under 64.5Kg to win last time at Corowa. This is an even race and at the price he is well worth an each way bet.
