Racing Tips – Friday Night Best Bets for Moonee Valley

Moonee Valley

Racing on Friday night is at Moonee Valley, with an interesting eight race program set to kick off at 6.15pm. The track should be good.

Best Bet

8. Ima Shelby
Moonee Valley R5 (8:15pm)

Ima Shelby is racing in terrific form and gets conditions to suit. Critically he has drawn inside which means that Mick Dee should be able to lead on him. The gelding was excellent in a strong race at Geelong on Cup Day last time and coming back in distance 100m won’t hurt. This looks his race.

Recommended Price: $3.20
Confidence Level: 4/5

More Racing Tips

8. Alienated
Moonee Valley R1 (6:15pm)

Alienated was a moral beaten over 3800m last Sunday at Ararat and looks hard to beat on the quick back up at a similar trip. The veteran was caught three wide without cover for much of the early going, then at a critical stage around the home turn was held up when the leader stopped in front of him. From barrier two Tom Ryan should give him a much smoother run in transit this time.

Recommended Price: $5.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

3. Ballynora
Moonee Valley R4 (7:45pm)

Ballynora disappointed here last time but happy to attribute that to the extremely heavy track on the night. The prospect of a firmer track, a very weak field, and getting the run of the race from barrier two should see her hard to beat.

Recommended Price: $4.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5

10. Red Card
Moonee Valley R6 (8:45pm)

Red Card displayed brilliant speed to lead all the way when breaking her maiden last start at Hawkesbury. The Godolphin filly smashed the clock in the process, with big margins behind her (the second placegetter has bolted in since). This is a step up but she looks to have enormous promise.

Recommended Price: $3.80
Confidence Level: 4/5

2. Zoumon
Moonee Valley R7 (9:15pm)

Zoumon could only manage a fifth placing first up at Bendigo, but he was first up there on a heavy track, and to be beaten only two lengths was a fair effort. His best form – he finished fourth in the Australian Derby earlier this year – would win this easily and he should be fitter this time, and appreciate a firmer surface under foot.

Recommended Price: $5.00
Confidence Level: 3.5/5
