Both teams have been struck by injuries, but the Pies should have sufficient depth to comfortably beat the Eagles at Marvel on Sunday.
Best Bet
Both teams have been bit by the injury bug but I would much rather take my chances on Collingwood’s depth than the dregs of West Coast’s list, one of the weakest in the entire league.
The Pies are especially short handed down forward where Brody Mihocek, Jamie Elliott and Lachie Schultz are all missing but sheer weight of midfield dominance should see the Pies find a way to score enough, even if they are heavily reliant on swingman Jeremy Howe and debutant Joe Richards.
The Eagles have lost Elliot Yeo, who would be leading their best and fairest, as well as Jake Waterman who has been an absolute revelation in the Eagles forward line this season. Adam Simpson will no doubt shuffle the decks but replacing his best two players is easily said than done.
After a slow start to the season, the Pies have found their mojo of late and this should be a comfortable win over a more competitive, but still poor Eagles lineup.
Same Game Multi
With the Pies injury woes Mason Cox should see plenty of time forward, while Jeremy Howe has already been touted to play forward this week. Bobby Hill has been in electric form for the Pies.
Value Bet
Richards has been in excellent form in the VFL with multiple goals in several matches including a bag of six against the Lions reserves. He gets a great opportunity to kick off his AFL career with a bang.
