Alize Cornet got yet another value bet over the line for us on Thursday and we’re going back to the well with her today.
Best Bet
Badosa, to the delight of my wallet, was tested by Juvan on Thursday but she was clearly the better player and deserving of the win. These two met a month back in Madrid when the Spaniard was a dominant victor and I’ll be surprised if we see anything different here.
Next Best
Sinner was a popular pick to make a deep run this year in Paris but an eight game start against an opponent coming off a good win against a player with a similarly world-class forehand is too big for me not to get involved.
Pegula came through a tight three-setter against Kalinina on Thursday and now meets a well-rested Zidansek who received a walkover through to this round. Handicap looks too big.
Garin is a serious clay-courter at his best and has been impressive in his two matches in Paris so far. Rublev will have aspirations of a deep run into next week but he would be wise not to underestimate the movement of the Chilean.
Value Bet
The market looks to have read a little too much into the win of Zheng over Halep for mine and while she was a solid winner there, so was Cornet. I’d have this much closer to a pick ’em.
