Port will be hoping to end a three-game losing skid when they travel to Perth to face Fremantle on Saturday night.
Best Bet
These are two teams heading in very different directions in 2025.
The Dockers were outstanding last week against GWS in Sydney, winning by 34 points. They played a much more aggressive style than we usually see under Justin Longmuir, scoring heavily from their defensive half and off turnover.
Port have been one of the worst sides at defending turnover in the last five weeks, ranked 14th and conceding nearly 50 points per game. If Freo bring the same attacking mindset as last week, they could post a big total against a Power team that looks just about cooked.
Ken Hinkley’s side have lost two of their last three games by more than 70 points. The one exception was the Showdown, which always brings extra intensity.
They will be without one of their gun midfielders in Jason Horne-Francis, a major concern going up against a midfield led by Caleb Serong, Andrew Brayshaw and Luke Jackson, who was dominant last week in the ruck, and who could make a mess of young Dante Visentini here.
Esava Ratugolea, Lachie Jones and Josh Sinn are also unavailable, further exposing a list already light on depth.
The Dockers have already thumped West Coast and Richmond this year, and Port are starting to look like they belong in that company.
A big margin looks likely.
Same Game Multi
Josh Treacy enjoys teeing off on bad opposition. He kicked six against the Tigers earlier in the year, and three against Port last year.
Andrew Brayshaw is always a great bet as Serong typically gets more of the opposition attention. He’s had 30+ in four of his last five.
Shai Bolton is really hitting his straps at Freo after a slow start to the year. He’s had 20+ touches in four of his last five games.
Value Bet
Freo have been a hard team to trust but this is a real opportunity for a percentage booster, especially given Port’s outs.
