It was an epic Day 10 of US Open tennis with three of the four matches going to a deciding set tiebreak. Will we see something similar on Day 11?
Best Bet
Karen Khachanov once again has saved his best tennis for a major, and the former US Open Semi Finalist will look to make another this year.
The Russian was too powerful for Learner Tien, winning the last two sets to advance, and he now faces Alexander Blockx.
The concern with the Belgian is his body. “To be honest, during the first three sets, I was very, very worried, because I felt a pretty sharp pain in my ribs – I was very close to retiring,” said Blockx after his win over Cerundolo last match.
It’s been a solid breakout major for Blockx, but with these injury concerns he’s extremely short against the in-form Khachanov.
Next Best
Although Rybakina leads the head-to-head 4-1, the pair have had their fair share of tight encounters.
Their last three matches have gone the distance, including twice this year when Qinwen was still a fair way off the top-ten performer we had previously become accustomed to.
Four of their five matches have gone over the total games over their career, and I still have my concerns about Rybakina despite her demolition of Osaka. Alcaraz yesterday showed us that it’s not easy entering this tournament underdone no matter how good you are, so I think Qinwen can make a contest of this.
Value Bet
Coco Gauff is flying, and there was enough to concern me in Mirra Andreeva’s three-set win over Potapova to think her run this US Open will come to an end.
The American is yet to drop a set, and entering this Gauff is 5-0 against Andreeva – a lot of that on clay, a surface which Andreeva probably plays her best tennis on.
Andreeva is just 1-4 against the top-ten this year, with a serve and return percentage of 95.4. Gauff is only marginally better at 3-5, but that serve and return percentage is 98.8. The Russian is 1-5 on hard against the top-15 this year, and I still think she’s got a bit of work to do to compete with the top-tier of players on the surface.

Zverev (M) / Khachanov (M) / Gauff (W) = $2.50
