Covid is this week’s excuse for Canterbury when they head to Brisbane to tackle the Broncos.
Best Bet
Brisbane -11.5 ($1.90)
It is hard to put too fine a point on how badly Canterbury are going but even accounting for the fact that the Bulldogs have played three top notch teams the last three weeks, they have conceded at least 32 on every occasion and lost all three matches by 20 or more. Trent Barrett is parlaying his 2021 wooden spoon and huge investment in talent this year into another wooden spoon.
The excuse this week is that Covid has hit the club. Three starters are out though, to be fair, none would likely be starters at any other club. The Bulldogs cannot afford to lose a single player though such is their fragility. And while the count is three now, it could grow come game time.
Brisbane have won 11 of 16 against the Bulldogs and six straight between the sides at Suncorp, five of which have been by double digits.
The Broncos have also been a very different team at home. They have covered 8 of 10 off a loss of 13-plus when they play at Suncorp.
Canterbury have covered just 3 of 15 off a loss of 20-plus.

Same Game Multi
Corey Oates Try/Kotoni Staggs Try/Herbie Farnworth Try ($7.00)
The veteran Oates has been in great tryscoring form this year with five tries in six games including a hat-trick against the Roosters.
Wildman Staggs has crossed in each of the last two weeks as he rediscovers his best form.
Farnworth scored a double against the Bulldogs last time out and now has four tries this year.
Value Bet
Cory Paix Try ($6.25)
Paix has just one NRL try to his name but won’t get a better opportunity than against the Bulldogs. Canterbury conceded a hat-trick to Damien Cook last week and Mitch Kenny the week prior. Paix is a strong play to land his second NRL four-pointer.
