The Roos have been competitive without winning and this is a start worth taking.

Pressure is building on Alastair Clarkson, but his side have been competitive lately, covering the line in five of their last seven.

They have been good against the Dogs too, covering in four of the last five. When the Bulldogs were belting bad sides in 2025, North were the only bottom six team to cover against them, and they managed it twice in the same season.

Marvel Stadium suits them as well, with covers in eight of their last 10 there.

The Bulldogs have not been winning by big margins this year either. Aside from the win over 18th placed Richmond, their last seven victories have all come by 22 points or fewer.

The Dogs regain Aaron Naughton and Cody Weightman while North get George Wardlaw back, which should help them stay competitive through the middle.
