AFL Tips – St Kilda v Essendon – Round 14 2022

The Bombers are in for another big loss.

Best Bet

St Kilda -23.5
Line

Last week Essendon had the pomp and ceremony of their 150th anniversary celebrations against old rivals Carlton and it got them absolutely nothing.

The Bombers were blown away early and it was only late rain arriving that kept the margin in check.

Under the roof at Marvel the weather Gods will not be around to save Essendon this time.

Let’s quickly recap how bad Essendon have been this year. They have won two from twelve. They have covered three from twelve. They haven’t topped 54 points in a game since Round 8.

Meanwhile, St. Kilda continue to be a tough, competitive outfit. They pushed Brisbane most of the way last week and it was only when three men down in the final quarter that the Lions ran over the top of them.

Brett Ratten’s side play particularly well under the roof at Marvel, having won four from five and covered four from five this season, including wins over Geelong and Richmond.

The Saints have been a good play as favourites this season, having covered six of eight times in this spot.

Against a poor Bombers outfit, the Saints should be far too strong.

Same Game Multi

St Kilda -23.5, M. King 3+ Goals, T. Membrey 2+ Goals, P.Ryder 1+ Goal

Essendon’s inability to cover key forwards is well documented so keen to back Max King in for a big bag. Tim Membrey didn’t hit the scoreboard last week but usually does when the Saints put up a big number. Paddy Ryder has been hitting the scoreboard and with Essendon lacking height in defence the ruckman should get some time forward in order to exploit that.

Value Bet

St Kilda 60+
Margin

The Saints are very well equipped to do an absolute number on the Bombers under the dome. Happy to play some of the bigger margins on offer and $6 for a ten goal spanking looks a worthy bet.
