Melbourne have an outstanding record at Adelaide Oval and can continue their excellent start to the season against a winless Port Adelaide.
The Demons entered the corresponding clash in Round 17 last year as outsiders against Port, as the Dees were experiencing a form slump having dropped their previous two.
While Port were competitive in terms of inside 50 count and contested possessions, the big problem the Power had was converting on the scoreboard. Melbourne’s suffocating defence simply had too many answers.
The Dees are only giving up 70 points per game in 2022, and while they continue to have lapses in their games they now have the firepower to get themselves out of trouble when they need to. Jake Lever returning will only improve their defence.
Melbourne will also enjoy returning to a ground where they have enjoyed plenty of success, having won eight and covered ten times from twelve appearances.
The continued absence of Robbie Gray and Xavier Duursma will only hurt the Power’s chances.
