If the West Coast Eagles were on the ballot on Saturday they would be voted out in a landslide.
The prime statistical indicator of the West Coast football economy – percentage – is a mere 49.9%. It’s banana republic stuff, alongside failed states like Fitzroy 1996 and Melbourne 2013.
While the Eagles won’t be up for election any time soon, the football world will judge them in another way – on the scoreboard against the GWS Giants.
The Giants have already knifed their leader this season, Leon Cameron, with Mark McVeigh taking the reigns as coach this week. A bounce in the numbers is to be expected as a result – even Julia’s polls went up after getting rid of Kevin.
McVeigh has swung the axe at selection with six changes. The Giants VFL team has been in excellent form so it makes sense that their ranks have something to offer at this level.
