The women’s Rugby League World Cup reaches its second week and we have some very big favourites looking to record very big wins this week.
Samoa v Wales
This is a complete mismatch. Samoa impressed in going down just 40-0 to Australia while England ran riot against Wales. Fetu Samoa have 16 NRLW players running out while Wales have just two. The Welsh team have lost their last four against England by 60-plus and in their first meeting with a Southern Hemisphere team could get pumped by 80-plus here.
Same Game Multi
Monica Tagoai was Canterbury’s best this year with nine tries in 10 games.
Evania Isa’ako returned from pregnancy with eight tries in 12 NRLW games for the Titans.
Ivana Lolesio is a strong running edge who scored two tries in her last eight NRLW games.
Fiji v Papua New Guinea
Fiji were super impressive when pushing New Zealand, almost pulling off an historic victory over the Kiwi Ferns. Any repeat of that showing will win here. PNG were flattered at home last week against a poor France team. The Orchids lost their only clash to Fiji 28-0. The topline stars Fiji have in the NRLW give them too much of an edge.
Same Game Multi
Losana Lutu scored against New Zealand and while she does not score often she has a good sense around the tryline.
Isabella Waterman comes off a season where she scored five tries in nine games for the Raiders.
Australia v England
The last time these two teams met was in Las Vegas three years back with the Jillaroos winning 90-4. They look set for another huge win. The Northern Hemisphere is so far behind and we should see a more enthusiastic Jillaroos this week after the lacklustre showing against Samoa, particularly with some new faces in the team.
Same Game Multi
Julia Robinson has a remarkable 22 tries in 13 Tests.
Tarryn Aiken is such an underrated tryscorer who has six tries in 10 Tests while she scored in three of her last four for the Roosters.
Olivia Kernick has scored in her last three against non-New Zealand opposition.
New Zealand v France
France have lost eight of their last nine World Cup games by at least 38 and simply are not up to this level of competition. After an embarrassing showing against Fiji, the Kiwi Ferns should be fully focused in this one. PNG beat France by 54 and the Kiwi Ferns are significantly better.
Same Game Multi
Mele Hufunga has scored six tries in 11 Tests while she has 29 tries in 40 games in the NRLW.
Stacey Waaka scored a double on her international debut after scoring 15 tries in 16 NRLW games.
Ivana Lauititi has four tries in her 13 NRLW games and has proven herself excellent value at getting over.
