The time-honoured Irish Open returns to Mount Juliet this week and an Englishman is fancied to win the event for the first time in a decade.
Best Bet
Mount Juliet shapes as a putting contest first and foremost and there are few more talented than Englishman Tyrell Hatton. Hatton ranks 2nd on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Putting as well as 3rd in Putting Average. He also ranks 15th on the DP World Tour in Scrambling. He has two Top 5 Irish Open finishes and form is sound enough.
Mid-Tier Bet
Players don’t come much more consistent than Pole Adrian Meronk, who has three Top 6 finishes in his last five starts. Yet to break through but fancy a win is coming. Ranks 3rd on Tour in Birdies along with 6th in Putting Average and 14th in Strokes Gained: Putting. Big odds this week.
Value Bet
Quality Spaniard who comes off an excellent Top 5 finish at the BMW International last week. He leads the DP World Tour in Birdies while he ranks 4th in Strokes Gained: Putting, 7th in Putting Average and 11th in Scrambling. He has four Top 13 finishes in his last six starts.
Longshot Bet
Italian Andrea Pavan is woefully out of form but hits a course this week that should suit his game. Pavan ranks 5th in Strokes Gained: Putting and 12th in Putts Per GIR.
