Can’t have any faith in the Dogs, especially with key players missing.
The one Bulldogs strength, their inside game, is completely gutted without Marcus Bontempelli and Tim English. Bontempelli has been managed and misses his first game of the season, while English is out with a knee injury.
Elsewhere they look like a very ordinary team, as shown by their defeat to North Melbourne last week, a team that hadn’t beaten a top eight side in years previously.
By contrast, the Blues look very solid all over the park. They have won 10 of their last 12 and covered in eight since Josh Fraser took the helm, having been 1-8 before he took charge.
That run includes a stunning upset of Brisbane at Marvel in Round 21, where Jagga Smith collected 29 disposals and kicked two.
Carlton have been the third best defence since Round 10 and get stronger this week with Jacob Weitering back for his first game in 10 weeks.
The Blues have won five straight at Marvel and should be big winners here.
Same Game Multi
Expect Ryley Sanders and Tom Liberatore to benefit from Bontempelli’s absence. Both will get more centre bounce attendances, especially Libba, who bizarrely spent time on the wing last week.
It was the small and medium forwards that did the damage for North against the Dogs last week, and both Ben Ainsworth and Will Hayward have been consistently hitting the scoreboard.
Value Bet
Kemp has kicked seven goals in his last two games, including a bag of five against the Lions. He also has a recent bag of five against the Dogs, in Round 3 last year, and was on the goal sheet in the Round 10 meeting at Marvel. He could be in for a big game if the Blues get on top around the pill.
