AFL Tips – Geelong v St Kilda – Round 21 2022

The Cats have been playing supreme football of late and look in store for another easy win at their home fortress.

Best Bet

Geelong -33.5
Line

Geelong are far and away the form side of the competition and they can keep that momentum up against a St. Kilda team that has been flattered by a soft schedule of late.

The Cats come in on a ten game winning streak but they have also covered the number in their last six, which suggests that the oddsmakers have not caught up to how well they are playing.

This was typified by their win over the Western Bulldogs last week. The Dogs got off to a fast start, but when the Cats flicked the switch in the second half they took the game away in a matter of minutes.

While St Kilda will take some encouragement from their win over the Geelong earlier in the year, both teams form has gone in opposite directions since.

The poor nature of some of the Saints losses in the second half of the season, against Sydney, the Dogs and Freo in particular, lingers in the mind and a blowout would not surprise given they seem to go missing in the biggest games.

Same Game Multi

Geelong -33.5, B.Crouch 25+ Disposals, R.Marshall 20+ Disposals, T.Stengle 2+ Goals

Brad Crouch had 36 against the Cats earlier in the season and given the minimal damage he does with the footy, Brad Scott is unlikely to spend too many resources shutting him down.

Rowan Marshall has taken to full time ruck duties with relish and comes off 30 last week against the Hawks.

Tyson Stengle has become one of the elite small forwards in the league and should be able to hit the scoreboard again.

Value Bet

Geelong 61+
Margin

It would be no surprise whatsoever if the Cats did a number on the Saints. Geelong’s average winning margin over St. Kilda at Kardinia Park in the last decade is 57 points.
