Karolina Muchova was my prediction in the Women’s Wimbledon Preview, paying $21, and I’m backing her in to get the job done.

Across the entire tournament, Muchova’s numbers have been stronger with a serve and return rating of 111.4 against that of her Czech compatriot, Linda Noskova, who has performed at 109.0.

Assessing the two Semi Finals, Muchova’s resistance of the Coco Gauff onslaught was incredible, with Gauff playing two of the better sets I’ve seen from the American in a long time, but the experience and composure of Muchova prevailed saving a match point. As for Noskova, don’t get me wrong she played well, but Kostyuk really wasted opportunities at key stages of the match – being broken on serve at 5-4 in both sets.

The numbers against top-50 opposition over the last 12 months are extremely similar with Muchova’s serve and return rating at 97.9 just pipping Noskova at 96.4, but Muchova’s win-loss is a lot better going 9-7 compared to Noskova’s 7-10.

There are two key factors which separates the two though. Firstly, Muchova has been on this stage before where she took Swiatek the distance in the 2023 French Open Final – this is new territory for Noskova.

Secondly, and potentially most important – Muchova has won their only meeting, and this was a major in last year’s US Open. Muchova won their third round match, despite Noskova entering as favourite, producing a serve and return rating of 113.1 – so even though it went to three, Muchova was dominant after dropping the first set tiebreak.

It’s been a long time coming, but I think Karolina Muchova will finally win her first major.
