We could see a major shock when world number 127 Roman Safiullin faces Novak Djokovic.

The Russian plays his best tennis on grass, and was a Quarter Finalist here a few years back – and he’s a live chance against the Serbian.

Safiullin has taken out two top-30 opponents this tournament already, and although Djokovic beat Rinderknech in four sets, statistically the Frenchman dominated with Novak’s serve and return percentage at 95.8 – which is nearly unheard of for a player in a win, where a percentage of 100 is considered below average.

I expect this to go at least four sets, and Safiullin could even cause a huge shock with an upset win at a price.

This line is effectively whether it will be a straight sets win or not, and I do think it will be going to at least four sets.

Hubert Hurkacz was outstanding in his win over Tommy Paul – as was Jan Lennard Struff with a straight sets win over Medvedev – but we’re seeing bulk sets go to seven between the pair this tournament.

40% of Hurkacz’s sets have gone to seven – which is slightly unders for the Pole compared to what we’re used to, while Struff is at another level with the nine of the German’s 13 sets so far this Wimbledon going to seven.

Warning signs for Coco Gauff, who has really battled her way to the Round of 16, despite having a relatively easy draw, where she’s yet to face a top-50 opponent. Both of Gauff’s second and third round matches went the distance, which has become a common occurrence for the American.

Gauff faces the in-form Belinda Bencic, who plays well on grass emphasised by her Wimbledon Semi Final run last year. The Swiss has the fourth highest serve and return percentage this tournament, and although she had to fight against Kalinskaya in her third round win, she has faced quality opposition with two top-40 opponents so far and prevailed.

From 11 matches Gauff has played this year against top-20 opposition, nine have gone over the total games – all nine going to three sets. As for Bencic, she’s in a similar mould with six of her nine against top-20 opposition going overs, including four of her last five.

I think this goes the distance with Bencic getting past the American.
