Jannik Sinner’s biggest opposition this year has been the heat, and with temperatures heating up in London on Day 9 can the world number one keep his cool?
Best Bet
Jannik Sinner hasn’t really been challenged since his first-round match where Kecmanovic took him to five sets, but the world number one hasn’t been at his best this Wimbledon.
He’ll face another opponent ranked outside the top-50 in Jan-Lennard Struff, who has been serving the lights out this tournament. From his 18 sets this Wimbledon, 12 of those have gone to seven, suggesting that the total games line is low in this even if this is decided in three sets.
When the pair met in 2024 in Halle on the grass, Sinner was victorious but it went to a deciding third set tiebreak, with that match going well overs.
All four of Struff’s matches have gone overs this tournament, while three of Sinner’s four matches have covered the total games line. With it expected to hit 30 degrees in London, can Struff hang around long enough to make a match of this?
Next Best
Jessica Pegula has definitely been playing the better tennis of the two – not just this tournament, but across the year, and I think the American will be too good for countrywoman Coco Gauff.
Pegula owns a 5-3 career record against Gauff, and has the second best serve and return percentage of the remaining women in the draw this Wimbledon.
Over the last 12 months, Pegula has an 11-9 record against top-10 opponents, covering the game handicap in 65% of them, with a serve and return percentage of 103.4. As for Gauff, she’s just 4-7, covering in 36.4% of matches with a serve and return percentage of 96.4%. Gauff has never been great on grass, and I think Pegula gets it done.
Value Bet
Can Karolina Muchova spoil the Naomi Osaka resurgence? Whoever wins this match I think will go all the way and take out the championship, and I’m leaning towards the Czech.
The pair have met on six occasions including one set in the Final of Bad Homberg a fortnight ago, where Osaka retired giving Muchova the title – but in their other five meetings, it’s Osaka leading 3-2 with each match being a genuine coinflip.
Looking at 2026 form, Muchova is 11-6 against top-30 opposition this year compared to the 5-5 for Osaka, with the Czech owning a coverage rate of 56.3% compared to the Japanese’s 44.4%.
Don’t get me wrong, the Sabalenka scalp was huge by Osaka, but Aryna hasn’t been at the level we’re used to in 2026 with the damage of the French Open still likely top of mind. Won’t be easy for Osaka to back up against the craft of Muchova.
