Many of these come out of the same 1000m race here a fortnight ago where Documentary was a real eye catcher late. The lightly raced seven year old will relish getting out to the 1100m here and from barrier seven, should position in the ideal spot for the straight – on the outside, just off the speed. Looks well placed.

Changingoftheguard is well placed here down in class. The UK import has some excellent form in his home country and has shown glimpses out here. First up at Rosehill he did enough to suggest he is in for a good campaign and he will relish the extra trip. Newcastle trainer Kris Lees sends him down and suspect he’s not here for a holiday.

The Shane Jackson stable has been airborne of late, particularly with horses over longer trips and Bergasun is another likely candidate. The gelding comes off a last start second at the Bool in a stronger race than this and while he has drawn wide, that means he should press forward and lead where he will prove hard to run down.

Run Harry Run is going very well this time in and gets his chance with what looks a very favourable speed map. He should have no trouble finding the lead here and that will make him very hard to get past in a race where some of his key rivals may end up back and wide at a start (1410m) that favours leaders.

Imminance has always had plenty of talent and the mare signalled she is back to her best form with an utterly dominant win at Echuca just last Friday. This is a step up in class but she will get her preferred wet ground and now she has found form I expect her to retain it.

Marble Nine has struck a rich vein of form coming into the Group 3 Aurie’s Star, having won his last three races, all down the straight. He also gets his chance to get to the best ground having drawn widest here. Splash Back looked like the second coming of Winx last start, but dropping back in trip is a big query for her.
