NRL Tips – Roosters v Sharks – Semi Final 2026

The Sydney Roosters were vastly improved against Penrith but look far too short against a Cronulla team that were close enough to the Chooks all year.

There is a lot of faith being put in the Sydney Roosters this week, going around 7.5-point favourites against a decent-enough Sharks team.

The Roosters have have dropped four straight after their stunning 12-6 win over Penrith. After three horrid losses, they were improved against the Panthers but still went down 19-12 even with the Panthers down to 12 men for 10 minutes.

Cronulla also limped into the finals but were never really threatened by the Cowboys, showing how important Braydon Trindall is to the team from the Shire.

The start of 7.5 is just too big.

The Roosters won both meetings this year but the last eight clashes have been split right down the middle while the Sharks won when these teams met in the finals last season.

Allianz is an interesting touchpoint here. The Roosters have failed to cover five straight at the ground while the Sharks have covered three of four.

The Roosters cover at just 42% when playing a Top 8 team while they are 17-22 ATS when favoured by at least 6.5 points.

Cronulla have covered four of five getting at least 6.5 points while they are 16-7 ATS as an underdog at night.

The Sharks can be bet with total confidence.

The under has hit in 10 of 11 games across the last four years where the Sharks have been getting a start of 6.5 or more while the under is 31-21 when the Roosters are off conceding 19 or fewer.

Ronaldo Mulitalo has nine tries in 10 games against the Roosters.

Robert Toia is in scintillating tryscoring form, scoring in three straight and crossing for seven tries in his last 10 games.

Braydon Trindall is the absolute centrepiece for all the Sharks do and a game back from injury we should expect to see Trindall running more. Trindall carried an injured shoulder into the Cowboys clash and ran the ball 10 times, his second highest run count this year. That showed a willingness to fight through the injury and to take contact. Trindall has nine tries in 22 games this season and now has 28 in 68 games over the last three seasons. He is huge overs.
