The finals are upon and the two favourites look to be very good bets with class set to prevail across the opening weekend of playoffs.

The Tigers and Raiders are set to meet for the second straight week and after Canberra won by 12 points at Leichhardt they will be exceptionally confident about winning convincingly at Campbelltown. Canberra are favoured by north of a try but deservedly so with the Tigers a poor 0-4 against teams who finished fifth or higher with all losses coming by double digits. The Tigers have taken care of business against teams below them on the ladder but have lacked class against the better teams. Canberra have won three of five against other finalists – and that includes losses to the two teams who finished top two. The Raiders are a very confident play.

The Broncos have returned to form with a dominant win over the Warriors last week and will go in highly confident of putting an underwhelming Knights team to the sword. Brisbane won 52-18 and have not scored 40-plus in two of last three. Brisbane have beaten Newcastle by at least 18 in their last three including a finals contest last year. Newcastle were decimated by Gold Coast last week with the final margin close only because of poor goalkicking. Brisbane win this by plenty.
