Not easy to do, but heading into Game 7 look at the series as a whole opposed to just the Game 6 result, and by doing that you have to take Boston at the line.
We’ve seen the Celtics get nervous a couple of times this post-season now – Game 5 at home against the Bucks they completely fell apart at crucial stages resulting in a Bucks win heading back to Milwaukee to close the series. To Boston’s credit, they produced a 13-point Game 6 road win and closed the series with a 28-point victory.
Game 6 against the Heat had very similar moments to Game 5 against the Bucks for this Boston team – Jaylen Brown missing two free throws late in the fourth when the Celtics had all the momentum, Marcus Smart making some atrocious last quarter offensive decisions on his way to 4/15 shooting and 1/9 from deep, Jayson Tatum having just one last quarter field foal attempt while turning the ball over four times.
While all this is happening, Jimmy Butler is having a career game single handily extending this series. The Heat needed to throw everything at Boston to extend this series to seven, and they did exactly that. Can they do so again? Based on trends this series, it appears it will be difficult to back up.

What a trade for the Celtics acquiring Derrick White, and although it’s taken its time he’s become crucial to this Boston team this series with Marcus Smart playing through an ankle injury.
Smart missed Game 4 forcing Ime Udoka’s hand in playing White 40 minutes, in which he produced 13 points. He backed it up in Game 5 with 14 points in 29 minutes, and then came up big in Game 6 with 22 points.
The sheer defensive attention Jayson Tatum is generating provides additional driving lanes for Derrick White when the Celtics move the basketball, and although Smart and Brown can attack the ring aggressively, both lack the polish and ball handling skills of Derrick White who managed to get two feet in the paint with ease in Game 6.
He needs to have a similar offensive impact off the bench for Boston for them to advance to the NBA Finals.

Jayson Tatum 25+ Points / Al Horford 8+ Rebounds / Jayson Tatum 7+ Rebounds / PJ Tucker 1+ Three = $4.20
Jayson Tatum will be playing 45 minutes in Game 7 with their season on the line. He should have no trouble finding 25 points, managing 30 from just 12 shots in the Game 6 – there’s no doubt his field goal attempts will increase here. His rebounding has been great this series, and he’s managed 7+ in his last three games, and in five of his last eight.
Al Horford has produced 8+ rebounds in 10 of his last 12 games, and if it weren’t for Game 6 foul trouble he would have posed more than 9. No problems in the big man pulling in 8 rebounds once again.
PJ Tucker will get opportunities from deep, especially with the frequency of Jimmy Butler attacking the ring. Making two triples in Game 6, he’s now made at least one three in 9 of his last 12 games.
