All Blacks vs. Italy Preview
We have All Blacks vs. Italy predictions for the Nations Championship Round 2 game on Saturday, July 11 at 3:10pm at HNRY Stadium in Wellington.
Bookmakers have only 32.5 points between the All Blacks and Italy, and given recent results, punters should expect the home side to cruise to victory.
Best Bet
We would have been prepared to take the All Blacks at -40.5. They scored a tough win over France, and although it was only by two points, it was a pass mark for their first test of the season.
One team that didn’t get a pass mark last week was Italy, who suffered an embarrassing loss to Japan. It was a one-sided game, and Italy never looked like winning. That loss sets them back a long way after a good Six Nations campaign, and playing the All Blacks doesn’t help.
They often suffer big losses to New Zealand, which is why we’re surprised by the -32.5 line. We priced the All Blacks at -40.5, and they have a wealth of try-scoring options, including Leroy Carter and Will Jordan, who has an excellent record as an All Black.
Punters should expect the All Blacks to pile on the points against an Italy team struggling with confidence.
Same Game Multi Bet
Will Jordan is a great try scorer, and we’re backing him to score again. He had a try against France last week in the early stages, and his try-scoring rate is superb. The odds aren’t massive for him to score, but he’s a top rugby SGM pick.
Jordie Barrett pays better odds at $2.20. He knows how to play in Wellington, having spent most of his career with the Hurricanes. He’ll be tough to stop in clear running room, and it should be an open contest.
The ABs could score 63 points by themselves, so over 63.5 is an obvious choice.
Value Bet
Barrett could give the crowd something to cheer in the first five minutes with a try, and the $15 odds are better than expected.
Playing off Ruben Love should give him every chance to bust through the line, and he’s still one of the quickest players in the All Blacks team.
