The All Blacks start a new era with Dave Rennie at the helm, and although they often play some of their worst rugby in the first game of the season, we expect them to win comfortably against France.

The French haven’t named a strong team, which continues a trend for them. It’s disappointing, but it’s the nature of the beast in 2026. These teams are preparing for the World Cup next year, so lineups will be tinkered with.

New Zealand will want to make a good first impression for Rennie, and it’s also the first test match played at One Stadium in Christchurch. It will be a huge occasion, and although it’s not the fortress of Eden Park, the All Blacks should feel comfortable.
