Most judges put the 2026 NRLW season to a race in two between the Roosters and the Broncos and to the surprise of few they are the last two teams remaining, meeting in their second straight Grand Final and their fourth decider in history.

The Roosters marched through their second straight undefeated regular season where they broke the single-game and season scoring records, averaging 39.45ppg. Their average margin of victory was 28.9 points per game.

The Broncos finished third on the ladder with an 8-3 record but those losses all came with veteran Ali Brigginshaw out suspended. The Broncos have conceded 18 or fewer in all 10 games Brigginshaw played.

The Roosters have won six of the last seven against the Broncos with wins of 14 or more in four of them. Finals are a different beast though as the Broncos proved when winning last year’s decider.

There is a concern over the Roosters in finals too. They have generally underachieved in playoff games. They have won four of their last five but have failed to cover their last seven. Since 2020 their biggest finals win is 12 while they have not won any of their last eight finals by more than eight points.

Brisbane have nothing to lose and the talent to win, a dangerous combination.

The last four Grand Finals have all finished on 40 points or above while the last five Roosters-Broncos clashes have reached at least 40 points.

Jess Sergis was the top tryscorer this season with 17 and is now the second greatest tryscorer of all-time. She has failed to cross in just two of 12 games this year.

Romy Teitzel will be running at Sariah Paki, who has missed 24 tackles in 12 games to rank in the top 40 worst defenders. Teitzel has been in great form with three tries across Brisbane’s two finals games.
