Two battles between unbeaten teams highlight an exciting Round 3 that will stretch the ladder and sort out the haves from the have nots.

Raiders v Roosters

Canberra are not being afforded a lot of respect, getting 14.5 points at home against the Roosters. The Raiders have looked very impressive in their two games, particularly putting the Warriors to the sword. After a poor start to last season, they have won five of seven with no loss bigger than 12 points. Canberra can run with the Roosters and while long-term are no match, can get them this week.

Tarryn Aiken is a very good tryscoring half with 14 tries in 28 games since moving to the Tricolours in 2023.

Warriors v Cowboys

The Cowboys lost a lot of talent over the offseason and if the opening two weeks are an indication, they are the worst team in the NRLW. They offered nothing when conceding 50 to the Broncos and then allowing the Tigers to post 30 at home was very poor. The Warriors have mixed form through two weeks and only rolled the Cowboys 12-6 last year but with a tackle-busting backline, they can score at will.

Bulldogs v Sharks

Canterbury are very much likely to contend for the wooden spoon in 2026 but this is a matchup they will be confident against a Cronulla team that simply cannot play under lights. The Sharks are a poor 1-7 straight up and 2-6 against the number playing under lights. When these teams met last year, the Bulldogs pulled off a stunning upset, winning their only game after Round 2. Look for the Sharks to continue to disappoint.

Gold Coast are shaping up as a very good team in 2026 with their backline the match of any team in the NRLW. That poses a major problem for an Eels team that has conceded 28 and 22 against the Tigers and Dragons – two teams expected to miss the playoffs. The Titans smoked the Bulldogs last week and can further hurt the Eels playoff prospects with a comfortable win.

Broncos v Tigers

Both the Broncos and Tigers enter Round 3 unbeaten but defending premiers Brisbane should have few problems disposing of Craig Sandercock’s team. The Broncos have an outstanding daytime record, winning 10 of 11 afternoon games by at least 14 points. Brisbane have smoked the Tigers by 30 and 24 in their last two meetings and look primed for another big win on the back of the incomparable Tamika Upton and a backline that can score quickly.

Knights v Dragons

It was more than a little surprising to see Newcastle so heavily favoured in this one. The Knights have played well in a close win over the Sharks and a close loss to the Roosters but one standout has been how limited Newcastle have looked with the ball. Laying 10.5 points to be with a team who struggles to score is not good business practice. The Dragons have tended to play the Knights close and were impressive last week putting Parramatta to the sword. The Dragons can win this – so the plus is one of the better bets of Round 3.
