Caleb Williams has been ruled out with a hamstring strain, ending a run of 36 straight regular season starts plus two playoff games since Chicago took him first overall in 2024.

Case Keenum is expected to start in his place. He has not thrown a regular season pass since 2023, and his last start was on Christmas Eve that year for Houston, when he went 11 of 17 for 62 yards with two interceptions before being benched in the third quarter.

Now he gets a Vic Fangio defence, a week after Brian Flores held the Bears to three points.

Philadelphia are 2-0 without playing well – Jalen Hurts threw two interceptions in Tennessee before winning it with nine seconds left – and Saquon Barkley was a full participant by Saturday after being in the injury report this week.

Admittedly the Eagles are short on pass catchers with Dallas Goedert and Hollywood Brown both ruled out, and they are yet to cover this season.

Nevertheless, it is a quarterback league, and the mismatch here is overwhelming.
