Brock Purdy is playing as well as any quarterback in football. He has completed 45 of 56 passes for 492 yards and five touchdowns, without being sacked. Against Miami he went 20 of 22 for 287 and San Francisco scored touchdowns on their first five possessions.

The receiving group is thin, with Ricky Pearsall, Christian Kirk and De’Zhaun Stribling all missing and Mike Evans questionable, but George Kittle caught four for 80 and a score last week and Purdy has succeeded with anonymous pass catchers before.

Arizona were exposed by Seattle. Jacoby Brissett threw for 95 yards on 28 attempts, the Cardinals managed 3.2 yards a play and held the ball for 23 minutes 27. Their best young corner, Will Johnson, is now expected to miss the season.

Arizona are 2-8 against the number in their last ten while San Francisco are 7-3.

If San Francisco get out in front as expected, Arizona will be throwing for the second half and McBride is the only receiver they trust.
