The NFC East once again looks a mish-mash of underachievement and unfulfilled promise with the Eagles on the fall, the Cowboys not nearly as good as promised and the Giants and Commanders having major question marks over their prospects.
Division Winner
The NFC East looks a wide-open division and as always there is plenty of interest. The Eagles ($2.20) start the year favourites to claim divisional honours ahead of the Cowboys ($3.00) with the Commanders ($5.50) and Giants ($7.00) well behind the top two.
Philadelphia became the first team in 20 seasons to claim the NFC East in consecutive years and look well worth taking on at the odds given the heavy losses in free agency.
There is plenty of hype around Dallas but the numbers don’t really justify any notable rise on their 7.5 wins from last year. They face one of the fourth hardest schedules and had no health excuses last year. Only the -9 turnover differential suggests improvement.
The Giants are trying to buy their way out of the organisational malaise by bringing in former Ravens coach John Harbaugh. The game seemed to be passing him by in Baltimore and the roster has too many holes to be a threat immediately.
That leaves the Commanders as value to bounce back after a disappointing 2025. The numbers certainly suggest Washington will improve. They had a turnover ratio of -13, they went 2-5 in close games and they fell one short of their true win number last year. Finishing in the top six most injured on both sides of the ball, there is huge scope just by getting their players back on the field and they have got notably younger in free agency with edge Odafe Oweh set to improve their pass rush significantly.
Washington are no certainties but they are a huge price to win the NFC East.
Season Wins Over/Under
The Eagles have posted at least 11 wins in each of their last four seasons, claiming three division crowns over that period, but this looks like a year Philadelphia regresses notably. The Eagles went 8-4 in one-score games last season while their health on offense last year was fifth healthiest. Jalen Hurts took a step backwards last year and there was a long list of departures led by AJ Brown on offense and Nakobe Dean, Reed Blankenship and Jaelan Phillips on defence. With a Top 10 difficult schedule, the Eagles are a take-on team.
Player Prop
Dak Prescott gets a bad rap in the press but Prescott typically puts up elite numbers when he is healthy. Prescott has been fully fit in four of the last seven seasons and has topped 4000 passing yards in four of those. In the years he topped 4000, he has reached at least 4400. This is simply a bet on Prescott’s health. If he stays on the field with his receiving corps of Ceedee Lamb and George Pickens, 4000 yards will be swallowed up.
