Could he be a longshot Victoria Derby contender? Mack The Knife had a luckless debut six days ago at Ballarat, and while he may not necessarily have won, he should have finished far closer. Trainer Lindsey Smith, who knows how to win a Derby, steps him straight out to 2000m here just six days later, and he should prove too good for an ordinary field.
