Racing Tips - Wednesday Racing Tips for Caulfield

The middle day of the Caulfield carnival features the Group 3 Coongy Handicap as the highlight. On a cool day, the track will be rated good.

8. Ziryab

Caulfield R7 (5.10pm)

Ciaron Maher has Ziryab in career best form this prep, highlighted by a dominant win in what has been a hot form race last start at Mornington with two subsequent winners from three runners. Will press forward and with a big weight drop, will take a lot of beating.

1. Porter

Caulfield R3 (2.50pm)

Porter is a very consistent commodity who should take a lot of beating once again. He has the big weight to contend with today but gets a massive drop in class back to BM70 grade from what he has been contesting. Should lead as usual and take a lot of running down.

Recommended Price: $4.60
Confidence Level: 3/5

7. Federer

Caulfield R4 (3.25pm)

The negatives with Federer are obvious – he is unproven at the trip (even being out of Caulfield Cup winner Jameka) and he ran poorly last time. On the other hand, class wise and at the weights, he is beautifully placed here. And he is trained by Ciaron Maher.

Recommended Price: $5.00
Confidence Level: 3/5

12. Johnich

Caulfield R6 (4.35pm)

Might be a run early with Johnich but I don’t want to miss out because he has a good win in him this campaign. He returned in easier company with a strong win first up at Geelong then closed off well at Mornington last time (behind Ziryab) in what has been a hot form race. On the way up and always like Harry Coffey in a middle distance or staying race.

Recommended Price: $6.00
Confidence Level: 3/5
