Philadelphia 76ers @ New York Knicks (10:10am)
We’re back to Game 1 in this series, with the 76ers starters playing huge minutes in their last three games to beat the Celtics – don’t expect these minutes to translate to Game 1 against the Knicks though.
Embiid was dragging his feet by the end of Game 7 playing nearly 40 minutes, and if Nick Nurse wants to get his big man through this series, he will bring his minutes down to 34 in this.
As a result, enter Andre Drummond. Expect Drummond to play closer to 14 minutes in this – Embiid’s bench minutes. In his last 17 games playing between 10 and 20 minutes, Drummond has covered this line on all 17 occasions averaging 6.7 rebounds.
Minnesota Timberwolves @ San Antonio Spurs (11:40am)
Not a great matchup for Rudy Gobert when he comes up against French counterpart Victor Wembanyama.
Bigs have had success against the Spurs this season – but generally it’s stretch bigs, so maybe we see more Naz Reid in this despite Gobert’s elite defensive profile off the back of a monster series against Nikola Jokic.
Gobert has failed to cover 8.5 points in his two games against the Spurs this season, averaging just five points per game. In the Denver series against Jokic who is not a rim protector, nor a good defender whatsoever, Gobert failed to cover this points line in three of the last five where he averaged just 5.8 points.
