A spot in the BBL Final is on the line in Perth on Saturday night as the Scorchers host the Sixers in a blockbuster clash between two of the competition’s heavyweights.
Head to Head
Sticking with the chasing team has been a strong strategy in BBL 15, particularly in tight markets, and that’s the case again here.
This season, 27 of 39 teams batting second have won their matches. In addition, the team batting second has won six straight Sixers games and the Scorchers have won 13 of the last 14 when batting second.
These teams are incredibly difficult to split. The Scorchers’ batting is extremely powerful with Laurie Evans coming in all the way down at seven, while the Sixers have a very even line-up, plus the ultimate Big Bash cheat code in Steve Smith.
The visitors probably have the edge with the ball, especially since the return of Mitch Starc and Sean Abbott to the line-up, however, the Scorchers quicks are always dangerous in Perth.
These teams met once this season, in the first match of BBL 15, with the Scorchers running out narrow winners in a rain-affected contest. This extended their lead in the head-to-head to 19-12.
The bat flip has been defining all season and it again shapes as the difference marker between these two strong teams.
Best Bet
We can basically rinse and repeat our write up from last match after Steve Smith brought up yet another 50. The superstar has scored 30+ runs in nine of his last 11 BBL innings and has posted centuries in two of his last four knocks. Simply on another class at this level.
Value Bet
The Kiwi has been the Scorchers top run scorer this season, averaging over 40 and finishing second on the runscorer table. He is hitting the finals in top form, smacking 69, 101 and 38 in his last three knocks.
Same Game Multi
Smith 30+ Runs / Allen 20+ Runs / Connolly & Starc 1+ Wicket
