Lebanon have historically been excellent betting propositions and have been wildly underrated in their clash with the Kumuls in Port Moresby.
Best Bet
Expectations for Papua New Guinea have been increasing in recent years and the Kumuls have not doubt improved. They have been particularly strong at home with 12 wins in their last 13 Tests in Port Moresby dating back to the 2009 Pacific Cup.
Sending them out 20.5-point favourites though against a team as honest and as tough as Lebanon though is utterly absurd.
Historically it has only been the Cook Islands and European minnows who the Kumuls have really put to the sword.
Lebanon have a proud World Cup record where they have covered all eight games across the last two World Cups, reaching the knockout stage in each.
Michael Cheika is a good coach who has done well at international rugby level and was an assistant to the title winning Sydney Roosters. There is NRL talent led by Jacob Kiraz and Alex Twal with eight players who have played premiership Rugby League.
The Cedars can win this. The 20.5 points is a gift.
Same Game Multi
Jason Saab makes his Test debut but comes off a season scoring 15 tries in 23 games and will be a key feature of the Cedars game plan.
Jordan Samrani has nine tries in 18 games starting in the centres in the NRL for Parramatta.
Dudley Dotoi was the top tryscorer in the Queensland Cup this year with 25 in 18 games.
Value Bet
PNG veteran Sylvester Namo is sneaky good tryscorer at international level who is always an utterly ridiculous price, particularly when he starts from the bench. He has scored in three of his 10 Tests for the Kumuls while he scored off the bench in the recent PM XIII match. His three Test tries have all come off the bench in his last five Tests.
