Value clearly lies with the number two drivers at Red Bull and Ferrari.

Race Winner: Carlos Sainz ($9) & Sergio Perez ($15)

Don’t look too far past the top of the market in the Australian Grand Prix. So far this season the Red Bull and Ferrari cars are far and away superior to anything else on the grid.

Mercedes have won four of the last six Australian Grand Prix, but they are a long way off the pace in 2022 following major changes in the car design regulations for this season.

The track is also significantly different than in past years, with more overtaking opportunities likely.

Looking at the betting, the clear value looks to be with the second drivers in each of the contending teams.

The new regulations have led to heavier cars with more understeer, which closes the gap between the elite drivers and the rest.

Red Bull’s Sergio Perez took pole in Saudi Arabia and had his race cruelled by an ill timed safety car. At $15 he is certainly worth a play.

At Ferrari, Carlos Sainz has only been a little bit off teammate Charles Leclerc and has finished on the podium in both races. $9 looks excellent value.
