Portugal vs. Spain Preview
This should be entertaining, with these geographical neighbours having a rich footballing history. In the 2018 World Cup it was an exciting 3-3 barnburner, that saw Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a hattrick. More recently it was a 2-2 draw in the 2022 UEFA Nations League Final, with Portugal taking the penalty shootout 5-3.
Spain have not conceded a goal so far and their hitting their straps at the right time. They have moved into third favourite behind France and Argentina. Portugal, however, have lost a few supporters with many starting to question their ability to kick away, scraping past Croatia in the 94th minute.
Best Bet

It’s a tough match to predict with Portugal running hot and cold during this tournament. It will be interesting to see if they make any changes to their lineup, including what to do with Ronaldo.
Spain has four goalscorers so far and now that Yamal has struck, he might play a bit more freely with the monkey off the back. He has looked so dangerous without reward so far but involved in everything and a constant threat on the goals.
Spain is the more consistent team for me; therefore, I see them advancing through to the quarters, with a date of the winner of USA v Belgium.
Same Game Multi Bet

Go big or go home, Spain could book themselves a place in the quarterfinals and they would retain favouritism in that match up with either USA or Belgium. Yamal has been unlucky on multiple occasions so far with some certainties being stopped by a flailing goalkeeper. We saw him absolutely peppering Austria with four of his six shots on target.
He looks to be close to fully fit after an injury cloud hung over his World Cup start. There is a reason the 18-year-old has signed for 200 million pounds at FC Barcelona and I think we get another showing here.
Value Bet

Spain is yet to concede, ranking equal first out of all competing nations. Portugal have conceded two, but still rank 4th in that category.
It’s two powerful football nations but defensively they have been rock solid. We are starting to see goals hard to come by as the tournament progresses.
Potentially Spain has not been tested yet, with a fairly tame group stage, followed by a round of 32 match against the 23rd ranked Austria. Austria managed zero shots on target for the match, failing to test the Spanish defence.
Portugal is a significant step up from them but also have been below expectation this World Cup. A lot of pressure on Portugal to shake the tag of perennial qualifiers.
