UFC Fight Night: Lopes vs. Silva Main Card Picks
Diego Lopes vs. Jean Silva
The Fighting Nerds impressive record took a massive hit last week when Caio Borralho and Mauricio Ruffy suffered losses in France. Jean Silva is next on the rank, and he’s the $1.36 favourite to win the main event.
We’re not thrilled by those odds, and there is much better value with Lopes. He comes off a tough loss to Alexander Volkanovski for the title, and although he was beaten, he lost no admirers with his performance against the Australian champ.
Getting $3.25 for a fighter with Lopes’ class is a good price, and although betting against the short favourite isn’t easy, this is an ideal situation for punters to cash in.
Rob Font vs. David Martinez
Rob Font was meant to fight Paul Rosas Jr, which would have been an amazing fight. However, he now faces David Martinez, who steps up on short notice.
Font is the $1.66 favourite to beat 12-1 Martinez, and his experience could be enough to get it done. He was the underdog in UFC betting markets against Rosas, so this is a much easier fight in the eyes of bookmakers.
Martinez can’t be slept on after knocking out Saimon Oliveira in March. The 27-year-old has a bright future, but he has a significant reach disadvantage to Font, which could make it hard for him to land a big punch.
Include Font in UFC multi bets.
Rafa Garcia vs. Jared Gordon
Most of the money with UFC odds has come for Jared Gordon, who knows a thing or two about winning main card fights.
The 37-year-old comes off a KO win over Thiago Moises, and that was a terrific performance. He bounced back from a loss to Nasrat Haqparast in a big way, and he should use that confidence to kick on with the job on Sunday.
Rafa Garcia is a dangerous fighter after beating Vinc Pichel in March. That’s a good effort, but Gordon’s experience could be too much for the $3.25 underdog. Include Gordon in UFC multis to boost payouts.
Kelvin Gastelum vs. Dustin Stoltzfus
Kelvin Gastelum’s career didn’t quite take off as expected, but he’s still a 20-fight winner, and he’s earned our respect.
He is the $1.40 favourite against Dustin Stoltzfus, who comes off a loss. His lack of consistency recently hasn’t been good enough, including a KO loss to Brunno Ferreira, and that’s a concerning sign against a fighter like Gastelum.
The $1.40 odds are a touch shorter than we wanted, but he’s worth including in UFC Noche picks.
Santiago Luna vs. Le Quang
There isn’t much between Santiago Luna and Le Quang in betting markets, with Luna posted as the $1.80 favourite.
He’s 6-0 and making his UFC debut, and although his form is tough to line up, Quang hasn’t looked all that impressive during his 9-2 career. He comes off a submission win over an 8-5 fighter, and Luna presents a harder challenge.
Luna is 21 years old, so he could be the fresh-faced fighter on the card. We’re taking note of the hype and backing him to win.
