Aryna Sabalenka is the hot-favourite to take out another Australian Open title, but an American is a huge threat who had a huge second half to the 2025 season.
Champion

Third time lucky? Amanda Anisimova is undeniably one of the best players in the world now off the back of reaching the Wimbledon and US Open finals, going down to Swiatek and Sabalenka respectfully.
She impressed in last year’s WTA Finals losing to Sabalenka in three sets in the Semis, and has the hitting power to match anyone in the world.
Not an easy quarter, but will be happy to feature in the bottom section of Quarter 3 away from Pegula and Keys.
Runner Up

A tricky quarter for Coco with the likes of Muchova, Vondrousova and Mirra Andreeva featuring, but can emerge from the first half of the draw.
Gauff has a great record against both Muchova and Andreeva, and has had plenty of success against Sabalenka assuming she can get through to the Semi Finals to face the Belarussian.
Semi Finalists

The hot favourite to win another Australian Open title, but it’s not going to be a walk in the park for Sabalenka.
Pavlyuchenkova has the power to trouble her in the second-round, Raducanu won’t be an easy beat, and Mboko is an incredible talent who she’ll likely face in the Round of 16.
She should still advance to the Semi Finals here, but will she have petrol left in the tank when she faces the contenders in the second week?

An incredible comeback to tennis from Belinda Bencic after giving birth in 2024. The Swiss is 43-16 since the start of last year, moving up the rankings from outside the top-400 back into the top-ten leading into the Australian Open.
Always been a prover performer at Grand Slam level, and enters this in red-hot form from the United Cup where she beat Swiatek, Mertens and Paolini.
In the Swiatek quarter here along with Rybakina who has failed at a number of Grand Slams the last few years – so big opportunity.
Roughies

Hard court form was really strong in 2025, reaching the Finals at Prague, Beijing and Tokyo.
Linda Noskova is remembered as the teenager that upset Iga Swiatek in 2023, and the 21-year-old has moved to number 13 in the world.
Hasn’t delivered at majors yet – but a big chance here in what is probably the weakest quarter of the draw.

Big stage performer, and is healthy entering the Australian Open for a change.
Karolina Muchova reached the Semi Finals in Brisbane in the lead-up including two top-ten scalps of Alexandrova and Rybakina.
Quarter Finalist at last year’s US Open – if she can beat Gauff in the Round of 16, she could easily come out of the second quarter.
