Amanda Anisimova vs Iga Swiatek

Despite the Semi Final scorelines being vastly different with Swiatek breezing through 6-2 6-0, I think Anisimova’s win was more impressive due to the competition she faced in the world number one, while the Pole faced Belinda Bencic on the back-up who has played limited tennis this year and had troubles with her toe.
Swiatek enters her first Wimbledon Final with the invaluable experience of five majors under her belt – albeit four of them on clay, while Amanda Anisimova is in her first career Grand Slam Final.
That being said, the American’s style of play is exactly what Iga Swiatek has had trouble with her entire life on grass and hard courts, with Anisimova overpowering Sabalenka for majority of their Semi Final.
Swiatek has been troubled by Sabalenka and Rybakina across her career on the faster surfaces, while her records against big hitters such as Madison Keys, Jelena Ostapenko and Mirra Andreeva emphasises why Anisimova is a big chance in this. Keys has a 2-1 record on hard court against the Pole including this year’s Australian Open Semi Final, Ostapenko is 5-0 on hard and grass courts, and Mirra Andreeva is 2-1 up on Swiatek on hard courts winning both of their contests this year.
Was truly shocked to see Anisimova at this price – the American is 5-0 against top-10 opposition this year on hard or grass courts and has shown more than enough this Wimbledon. I think the American can produce a fairytale win.
