Coco Gauff
Match

These two are building quite the rivalry across their career – this will be their third matchup in a Grand Slam Final, and their 11th in total with the head-to-head deadlocked at 5-5.

Per the numbers this French Open, Gauff has Sabalenka’s measure at 116.7 service and return points, with the Belarussian on 114.0 – this if off the back of Gauff’s dominant return game winning 57.4% of return points, nearly 7 percentage points above average.

It is really hard to split these two across the journey, but their last clay meeting in Madrid a month ago was dominated by Sabalenka – although the scoreboard indicated a tighter contest.

There are two trends that have emerged from their 10 previous matchups though that can help us bet into this contest. Firstly, 9 of the 10 matches have gone over games – the only miss back in 2023 at Indian Wells. Gauff has entered underdog in nine of their ten meetings despite a 5-5 record, but the American has covered the line in eight of those ten meetings.

With Gauff winning just 32.8% of return points when the two met a month ago, if the American can tighten this up I think she’s a real chance to cause an upset in this French Open Final.
