Even though this is the first time Alcaraz and Sinner have met in a Grand Slam Final, there will be many more occasions along the journey. Can the Spaniard defend his French Open crown?

Jannik Sinner vs Carlos Alcaraz

Value Bet
Since the start of 2024, Jannik Sinner has been the best player in tennis justified by his number one ranking and winning three Grand Slam titles during this stretch. The Italian’s record is 91-7 during this period – but there’s an elephant in the room, and it’s a small Spanish one named Carlos Alcaraz.
From the seven losses that Sinner has copped, four of them have been at the hands of Alcaraz with Sinner failing to beat the Spaniard over this stretch. Two of those on clay including the Final at Rome less than a month ago, where the world number 2 entered as underdog. The other two wins by Alcaraz included on the hard courts at Beijing last year and also at Indian Wells at the start of 2024 – which plays like a slower hard court, potentially closer to a clay court.
The Spaniard leads the head-to-head 8-4, which includes 3-1 on clay, but it’s the recent form when Sinner has been playing at his peak with Alcaraz winning their last four meetings when they’ve both been ranked inside the top 3 which gives me the confidence that Alcaraz gets this done.
Their last two meeting at majors have gone to five sets including last year’s French Open Semi Final, and if that happens I think Alcaraz takes home the silverware due to how little tennis Sinner has played this year due to his drug suspension.
