Tennis Tips – French Open Day 7 Tips

Last year’s Finalist Alexander Zverev hasn’t been in great form in 2025, and has a huge challenge against up-and-coming Italian Flavio Cobolli.

Best Bet

Zverev vs Cobolli Over 36.5
Total Games

Huge win by Cobolli in the second-round against countryman Matteo Arnaldi, and he did it with relative ease.

He has a huge challenge against Alexander Zverev, but I think he’ll take it to the German who hasn’t been great in 2025.

Although Zverev is 9-2 against opposition ranked 12-40 at Roland Garros across his career, it has never been regulation – 10 of those 11 matches have gone over 36.5 games which includes two matches last year against Griekspoor and Rune that both went the distance.

Cobolli has taken the scalps of Rublev and Rune this French Open, so I think the Italian will make a match of this.

Next Best

Joao Fonseca +3.5
Game Handicap

Huge moment for the 18-year-old Brazilian against the world number five, Jack Draper.

Fonseca dismantled Hubert Hurkacz in his opening round and is yet to drop a set this tournament, while Draper needed four sets to get past both Bellucci and Monfils.

I thought the Brit really struggled against Monfils in the second-round, with the Frenchman leading 5-2 in the fourth set before the 38-year-old’s body continued to let him down – Monfils did play a five-setter in the first-round leading up. If it wasn’t for that, I think Monfils could have beaten the world number 5.

I think Draper plays his best tennis on grass and the hard courts, so I really think Fonseca can make a name for himself and cause a huge upset advancing to the Round of 16.

Ekaterina Alexandrova -2.5
Game Handicap

Potentially the form of the Russian’s career. 8-3 on clay in the lead-up, and against two clay courters in the opening two rounds at Roland Garros Alexandrova has only dropped a total of nine games across four sets.

She faces a familiar face in fellow Russian Veronika Kudermetova, with the pair meeting on six occasions across their career – the record 3 apiece, but Alexandrova has won three of their last four.

Despite her dominant second-round win over Krejcikova, think Kudermetova benefit from being in her section of the draw with the 2021 winner playing one match this year in the lead-up to Roland Garros. Alexandrova’s hot streak to continue.

Value Bet

Daria Kasatkina
Match

New Australian Daria Kasatkina has a huge opportunity against Paula Badosa in this third-round encounter.

The Spaniard did well to come from a set down against Osaka in the first-round, but I felt she struggled in her second-round win Elena-Gabriela Ruse – Badosa’s service and return points won being less than the 80th ranked Romanian.

It wasn’t regulation for Kasatkina, but she did still cover her line in tricky circumstances against the Frenchwoman. With Badosa struggling with a back injury leading into Roland Garros, I think there’s a huge opportunity for the Australian who historically plays very well at the French Open.
