The second round of Roland Garros is set to kick off tonight and with three days play now under the belt, it’s time to open the shoulders.
Best Bet
Alex Molcan put together a cracking week in Lyon last week to make his third career ATP final but nothing can prepare you for the ultimate test that is Novak Djokvoic. The tournament favourite dropped just four games against Taro Daniel and while this is a step-up, the total looks far too high.
Next Best
Teichmann was sensational in her 6-2, 6-1 win over Bernarda Pera and now comes up against a qualifier in Olga Danilovic. The Serbian has played 12 sets since arriving in Paris and a more-rested Teichmann is by far her biggest test yet.
Carlos Alcaraz was ultra-impressive on Sunday when he dismantled Argentinian Juan Iganacio Londero but does face a rise in class when he meets his countryman on Wednesday. Ramos-Vinolas did well to snap a four-match losing streak against Kokkinakis in round one but Alcaraz won’t play with his food here.
Dimitrov has been better on the clay so far this season than his tournament results suggest and after surrendering just three games on Sunday, he finds a perfect opportunity to advance to round three here against an opponent who has struggled for consistent form this year.
Value Bet
Karolina Muchova was impressive in round one and while World No. 3 Maria Sakkari is a steep rise in class for the Czech, this price is too big for mine. The head-to-head record between these two stands at 1-1 and Muchova knocked the Greek off last year in Madrid, a tournament that is known for closely replicating the conditions of Roland Garros.
