Jannik Sinner looks to win his second consecutive Australian Open, but Alexander Zverev will not make it easy for him looking to win his first Grand Slam title.

There has to be serious concerns over Jannik Sinner’s wellbeing heading into this, and the $1.32 is a crazy price, with plenty of factors in Alexander Zverev’s favour going into the Australian Open Final.
Zverev had the luxury of a Djokovic retirement while playing a day game, and the extra rest is something that Sinner would have loved heading into this. Instead, despite the Italian’s straight sets win over Shelton, he still struggled physically and was cramping during the third set while appearing extremely short of breath as early as the first few games of the match.
The German also has a terrific record over Sinner and he’s done it on the big stage. Zverev leads Sinner 4-2, which includes wins in the 2021 and 2023 US Open Final – the latter being before Sinner’s wild hard court run leading into the 2024 Australian Open title.
What we saw from Zverev in the first set against Djokovic is the ability to sustain long rallies and wear his opponent down – the first set went 81 minutes. If he does the same against Sinner, he can capitalise on the Italian clearly not being 100% out there.
Zverev’s biggest obstacle which has held him back his entire career is between the ears though – he has played in two Grand Slam Finals, where he served for the match in one and led two sets to one in the other. Sinner definitely has the mental edge, but the Zverev price is far too long not to play with all things considered.
